Sterling Homes

Why Process Matters

We recently finished a custom home for a lovely couple who summer in Vermont. The house is amazing; in every detail. From custom wood floor inlays to an expansive stone fire pit in the backyard, this house was painstakingly thought through.

But even more amazing is that the homeowners live in Arizona. That’s right, Arizona – over 2,500 miles away from Vermont. Signing contracts, reviewing plans and specifications, and more incredibly, our process of Options & Selections was all done remotely.

That may not seem like a big deal in today’s world of technology and remote access but think about this: you are building a custom home where you need to think through and choose every little detail. And this particular house has a lot of minute detail; both from a selections stand point and because one of the homeowners is in a wheelchair. All of these details were chosen, recorded, and ordered based on correspondence via email and phone.

Capturing the look and feel the homeowners wanted while maintaining accessibility is a challenge regardless but to do it all remotely was no small feat. Knowing that the first time the home owners would see their house in person was going to be well into the framing stage, it was extremely important to make sure everyone involved was speaking the same language.

Sterling Homes prides itself in many things but one thing for certain is its process. We have put 40 years into fine tuning that process so that building your dream home is as easy and enjoyable as possible – even from 2,500 miles away. Past clients who have gone on to build homes in other areas – clients who tested this process to its very core while building with us – can attest that what Sterling Homes offers is second to none. We build your home on paper, and on purpose, prior to building it in the real world. It is this process that makes building with Sterling Homes the best experience you will ever have building a home.
