A great photo came through my inbox today. It is a picture that was taken a few weeks ago at a neighborhood gathering in Thistle Hill. This picture could look like it was set-up for marketing, or for a construction company that builds neighborhoods (wait, we do that, don’t we?) to put on their website. I promise it was not taken for those reasons, and I promise those smiles are all genuine. This picture was taken for the same reason that you take a picture, it was taken to remember something special. In this case it was a fun night shared by neighbors.
It looks like a photo from a family reunion. Instead, it is a picture of neighbors coming together. Some neighbors that have been there for a while, others moved in just this fall. You can tell instantly when you look at this picture that if someone needs a cup of sugar – they will be able to knock on someone’s door to find some.
There are some great things that come with being part of a neighborhood, I think if you take a second to look at this picture, you’ll be able to think of some, too.
