I am hoping that I didn’t just jinx the entire State of Vermont by writing that, and I’m hoping that we keep having a bit more sunshine!
It seems like that time of year came earlier this summer, with temperatures cooling off nicely at night (sometimes too cool for August if you ask me), but it looks like summer isn’t quite ready to be done yet and gave us some nice warm summer like weather just in time for kids to go back to school and start fall sports.
For us at Sterling, it is an exciting time, not so much because of the changing seasons, but because we’ve been able to meet some new Clients in the past week. We’ve been working with a lovely couple looking to relocate to Vermont for retirement, and working to make their home as energy efficient as possible – with efficiency upgrades such as a radiant floor in slab, as well as R-15 insulation under all of the slab, and R-25 insulation under the radiant slab. We are also looking to increase the insulation in their attic even more than we already do, and have reduced the glazing on the house to increase the overall R-value (how well insulated the house is.) They have been wonderful to work with and toss ideas around with! It will be exciting going forward to see what other Personal Choices they make for their home, to make it uniquely theirs and offer even greater energy efficiency.
A couple moving into South Village completed their Options and Selections last week, adding fun and personal touches like a glass backsplash in the kitchen to really make it their own. We also have a new Reservation on a great corner lot in South Village and are really looking forward to working to create their dream home.
Thistle Hill continues along with lots happening. One home is near completion while another had a great back deck go on this week. There is a duplex that had a foundation, footers and hopefully by the next time I write framing will be well under way! One half of that duplex is being built as a model home – selections have been made, and there are some fun upgrades that we have chosen to do in it, including granite countertops in the Master Bath and tile in the second bath.
So, while summer might be starting to wind down, things are keeping busy here. Busier even for some of our staff, with their kids heading off to college or back to school and Allie, who was an intern for us earlier this summer, just flew off to Rome for her fall semester! For me though, I think I’ll enjoy the sunshine as much as I can, but be grateful that the office is air-conditioned.
