Here at Sterling Homes, we are content with our relatively small existence; that we average around 15 homes a year and build predominantly in Chittenden County Vermont. But don’t let that small existence fool you. After decades of building homes and developing land, keeping up to date on green, sustainable building practices and innovations, and building homes for hundreds of people, Sterling Homes has a local reputation of being better than the rest.
So when the big city called to ask Collin to be a judge for the 2018 Prism Awards offered by Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Boston, we were thrilled and honored to be a part of something bigger.
Collin was tasked with judging 56 different entries ranging from Best Landscape Design to Best Single Family Home: Over 8,000 Square Feet. While no small task, Collin’s opinion is quite revered by many in the industry and he is always willing to give his time to share knowledge and insight to the greater home building community.
Though the demographic is different and the style and price point may not match up with what we are used to In Vermont, the foundation is the same. Has the builder presented their work in such a way the worthy of an award? And is that work in and of itself, worthy of the award? Has the builder captured the essence of what it is they are presenting?
As a builder in a mostly rural state, it is always a huge honor to be recognized by the greater community as someone with an opinion that matters. Collin’s experience as a judge for the 2018 Prism Awards was both prideful and enlightening. The awards were given out at an event in Boston on October 25, 2018.
